It's entertaining nonsense.
And the French/Tunisian love interest is gorgeous. I'd happily sell my country out for a go with her.

What did you like about it?? The fabricated Algerian Woman spy?? (BBC tick box twice) The fabricated homosexual relationship involving Paddy Mayne (BBC tick box) ??
Loads of shit they missed out telling... but hey at least we get in the females and the homosexuals to make it fair for everyone...
Would HBO have done the same?? Absolutely not... imagine band of brothers with the Red Hot Chilli peppers being blared out as easy company dropped on D-Day.... could have been brilliant... instead we turned it into a shit brit tarantino outting

Are you complaining about a very attractive woman getting naked because it's not true to real life? I mean who cares?
I'd have been happy with another couple of fit female spies in the plot.

Me..... its fabricated fantasy bullshit. Those blokes and their families deserve the truth told about them not made up fabricated woke shit for the BBC. One of the combat forums few family members are up in arms in how some if them have been portrayed...but hey cracking music

I understand NS
I liked it as a Tv show to sit back and enjoy and forget but it was based on real people and real events so some of it was piss taking and disrespectful by the BBC.

It's not marketed as a history programme or a documentary. It's a prime time action/drama programme.
The woke watch thread is full of links to social justice warriors getting upset at pointless shit. This thread, people are getting upset about a prime time action series not being a documentary. This is equally bonkers.

Fifth… go and watch Band of Brothers and the Pacific (HBO)… Spielberg and Hanks were getting pelters from the veterans by letting them know that in certain situations that character would not have removed their helmet… and loads of others small minute details…. they would have had an absolute meltdown if this Peaky Blinders cunt had touched their story… when a story deserves to be told…. Which this does… then do it properly… but hey you got your fabricated Algerian girl spy shagging half the regiment, nice homo story and obviously some cracking AC/DC and Clash numbers…
do the story Justice… they earnt and deserved it.

For those interested this book might be worth a look Speed, Aggression, Surprise by Tom Petch. It is focused on the origins of the SAS. I heard a radio interview with Tom Petch. and he confirmed that the Dudley Clarke the spy played by Dominic West was a transvestite, apparently he was convinced that nobody would think that a transvestite in the seedy clubs of Europe could possibly be a spy. It also talks about one of the true early heroes was an NCO who because he was not 'Officer Class' did not get the recognition that Paddy Mayne and Stirling got. I think this NCO was gay and possibly behind a successful attack on one of the German airfields after the failed attacks by Stirling and Payne, which in essence brought the military hierarchy on board regarding the SAS.
Tom Petch managed to access original material from the archives of the IWM, so seems is based on original records of the day.

I thought it was excellent entertainment. Weren't the SAS acknowledged in the credits too - in which case it's reasonable to assume they didn't mind it either.
